Our Mission

Through rigorous academics, quality instruction, and a positive culture of individual and collective responsibility, Forte Preparatory Academy Charter School equips all students in grades 5 through 8 to excel in college preparatory high schools and use their leadership and voice to change the world.

Our Program

Our diverse academic program builds student ability and reinforces their understanding of the STRIVE values, which inform everything that we do.

High School

Forte Preparatory High School opened its doors in Glendale in 2023, and will change the game for students in Queens, preparing them for the many postsecondary options available to them in NYC and beyond.

  • Literacy and math are at the heart of a world-class education, they enrich lives and open doors to college and opportunity, and are at the heart of Forte Prep’s curriculum.

  • Character education supports students to develop authentic leadership through a dynamic focus on individual and collective responsibility, self-determination and community.

  • A structured and joyful school environment inspires all members of our community to work hard, be daring, take intellectual risks, and develop lifelong academic habits of success.

  • We enrich our students through diverse arts & technology programs, expanding their world view and supporting academic success.

Our Beliefs

Our beliefs will help us achieve our mission:

  • Every student deserves the opportunity to transform his or her life through college education, and that the journey to college begins in the early years, within a supportive learning environment.

  • Exceptional teachers are critical to creating and sustaining a culture of academic excellence and intellectual curiosity.

  • Our school community must be held to the most ambitious national standards, with a distinct and prioritized focus on literacy and math, and we are responsible for developing our curriculum and assessment systems to meet and exceed those standards.

  • Students equipped with the core knowledge and analytical skills to succeed in college and their communities will emerge as future leaders and responsible citizens.

  • Arts and technology learning is critical to inspiring and equipping low-income students with essential skills to transform the 21st century economy.

  • No individual within our community can be truly excellent unless we are all excellent. A culture of high expectations for every member of our community undergirds high academic achievement at Forte Prep.

  • Student success is driven by a rich character education, a deliberate approach to community building, and a diverse array of enrichment opportunities.

  • The active development of student voice through debate, public speaking, spoken word, and leadership training will prepare students to exhibit responsible leadership and advocacy in their communities.

  • Families and communities are our partners, who will support and sustain our long-term success. We value regular communication with families, and work alongside them to set the most ambitious goals for students.

  • A seamless transition from middle school to college preparatory high school requires a deliberate focus on building independent student ability and motivation, as middle school students mature into college-bound young adults.

Our Values

We know our students will succeed at every stage because they will embody and exhibit Forte Prep’s STRIVE values wherever they go:

  • Be in Service of your community. Seek out opportunities to help one another whenever possible without expecting something in return.

  • We are a Team. Look out for one another, lend a helping hand, and do your part to ensure the safety and productivity of the community.

  • Be Resilient. Persist despite obstacles, and work towards achieving goals with optimism and enthusiasm.

  • Exhibit Integrity. Perform, every day, as if under the spotlight, acting with honesty and responsibility.

  • Use your Voice with respect and purpose at all times. Our strength lies in our ability to have all voices of our community strengthened, refined, and most importantly, heard.

  • Seek Excellence. Pursue mastery across the curriculum and in every school activity. Come to school ready to give your very best!
